Check Out Your Books First

Before you head to the quilt shop to buy another book, look through the ones you already own. Many books use 2 1/2-inch strips as a standard. Without realizing it, you probably have a book or two that can use precuts. After all, precuts were invented to be user-friendly and save you time with the cutting. Look through the cutting instructions of the book and think about what you have that can be used.

Maybe you have a pattern stashed away that you have been planning to do but haven't started yet.. Check out the cutting instructions and fabric requirements. Scrappy patterns are a great source for using up small amounts of fabric, and many have common sizes that are now precuts.
