Letters From Our Readers

"This is a tip that I wish to share. A lot of grocery stores now have canvas-type grocery bags that can be purchased in order to save trees. I purchased about five of these bags and use them regularly. However, I found that if the bag was filled with too much the bottom sagged. I had an old cutting board, so I measured the bottom of the bag, minus about an inch, and I marked the dimensions on the old cutting board and cut it up with some heavy-duty kitchen scissors to match the shape of the bag. It works well. I enjoy your newsletter." -- Marci H.

If you have read the newsletter, you will know that this is a great idea to go along with those “green” grocery bags. -- Carolyn

"Having a project ready for vacations, well I have something even better. I friend of mine goes camping and takes her quilt projects, sewing machine, iron and small board. Mind you, they do camp in a paid campsite that has some electrical, but she sets all this up in her tent." -- Jean

That is one dedicated quilter. -- Carolyn

"So often my email box is so full that when your e-letter comes I just delete it, but I’m looking forward to my daughter going to day camp for the next two weeks and hoping to at least get a little quilting done, so I opened it. I may be forever changed by the note from the woman who donated all her quilts. So often I only start and finish quilts that are for someone like my cousin’s upcoming wedding, a baby quilt for a friend or my nephew’s graduation. If they are not specifically for someone, they end up in my to-do pile and may never see my sewing machine again - but why? I need to look at them as important as any of the others and can be used and loved as much as the others I make for someone, maybe even more so TO-do pile, here I come! Thank you!" -- Joy J.

"Love your magazine online. I have been given a pile of shirts to make a memory quilt. What pattern can you come up with for all the collars and cuffs? These will be left after the memory quilt has been made."  -- June O.
