Well, the dog days of summer are coming to an end. In the Midwest that means cooler evenings, apple cider and doughnuts, pumpkins, harvesttime and the beginning of quilting season. This is the time of year when a quilter just wants to put away the rake and garden hose, and settle in for some creative quilting.

It's also a time for preparation. Children are all excited to start school, canning for some is a tradition this time of year, and thoughts of the fast-approaching holidays are foremost in our minds. It's a great time to pull out the stash and kick-start the season. There's nothing like the satisfaction of creating a handmade quilted project to motivate a quilter.
