A Note From the Editor

"Success is where preparation and opportunity meet."
-- Bobby Unser

Not having enough time to prepare for quilt projects can sometimes leave quilters finding themselves with free time but no available project to work on. In this super-busy world, planning and preparing for my quilting time has become so important. I've found that using the availavle precut fabrics that are on the market today can sometimes work to my advantage. I now collect patterns that are precut user-friendly. I have created a binder with possible patterns so I can find them with ease. You never know when plans will change, and I want to take advantage of that occasional free afternoon.

Our theme for this issue is Options for Precuts. You'll find several great patterns you can start on that unexpectedly free afternoon you plan ahead. There are small and large project in this issue. Tiny Bubbles on page 54 or the Charming Runner on page 58 are both smaller projects, but both have great style. Depending on what type of larger projects you may be looking for, we have a great selection of those also. Over the Hills on page 50 and Oh, So Charming on page 63 are both great quilts that could be made in a weekend or possibly a day if you have prepared for the project and have the precuts on hand. And if you're looking for an ongoing project with a bit of a challenge to work on from time to time, you may want to check out Contemporary Wedding Ring on page 16. This one is a must-do! Here you can cut your own 2 1/2" strips from your color choices and still enjoy the convenience.

These are just a few of the great patterns we have for you. We also have wonderful creative projects made with fabric yardage or from your scrap basket and, of course, our regular features. Don't forget to read Debby Brown's column for the beginner quilter. She always has great tips for those of you learning to quilt your own quilts. All in all, this is a great issue!
